COVID-19 Resources

image of COVID-19

With the news changing so rapidly on COVID-19 and its impact on Chandler schools, it can be difficult to keep up. To help our community, CEA is providing a resource page that links to local resources (including news from CUSD), as well as statewide and national resources from AEA and NEA. You can find this resource at chandlerea.org/covid19. This page will be updated as we are made aware of new resources that may be helpful to the CEA and CUSD community, so be sure to check back often.

Community Art Build on Saturday, March 21

On Saturday, March 21, CEA will be holding a Community Art Build from 10:00am – 2:00pm at Chandler High School. This event is meant to be a celebration of how much we can accomplish when we come together as a community! A union artist from Just Seeds will be helping us paint two banners, but other activities will include:

  • face painting and coloring for the kids
  • car window painting for adults
  • a DJ and food trucks for everyone’s enjoyment
  • signing or checking out Invest in Ed petitions

Local candidates will be making special guest appearances as well as local union celebrities! We’ll be outside the Fine Arts building which is closest to the corner of Arizona Ave and Chandler Blvd. Please register to attend on our event page!

Please note that due to the coronavirus outbreak, we will be taking extra precautions such as making hand sanitizer and wipes available as needed. We encourage those in high-risk populations to stay home and join us for future events instead.

Invest in Ed Signature Gathering on Saturday

#INVESTinED

Want to help bring almost a billion dollars of additional funding to our public schools? Want to help bring over $18.5 million in additional funding to Chandler alone? We’ll meet outside the Chandler Public Library at 9:00 am and then farm out to local businesses in downtown Chandler to gather signatures. Everything you need to participate will be provided … we are asking everyone to get just one page of signatures on Saturday so we can get Invest in Ed off to a great start. Let’s do this, CEA! CEA Legislative Toolkit Available Online

Arizona Capitol

The legislative session is underway once again! We made great progress in the 2018 election, but still need to make our voices heard and keep the pressure on our legislators to keep moving forward toward restoring funding for education … and avoid passing bills that move our education system backwards.

With all of the bills being considered, it can be tough to keep up, let alone advocate for our students and our profession. Our Legislative Toolkit can help, giving you information on how to stay informed on what’s happening at the capitol and how you can make an impact on the process (including signing up for the Request to Speak system). Check it out today and become an education advocate!

Happy American Education Week!

This week (November 18-22) is American Education Week! Thank parents for their important role of support in our schools, and invite them to your classroom to see what’s happening firsthand.
Wednesday, November 20Education Support Professionals Day
Honor our ESP staff for the critical roles they play in making our schools a safe, clean, and productive environment for everyone!
Thursday, November 21Educator for a Day
Invite community members into your classroom to experience the joys and challenges of our public schools, and to see up close the needs of our students.
Friday, November 22Substitute Educators Day
Celebrate our substitute educators for ensuring that learning is happening on a daily basis, even when educators are absent.

Please post on social media throughout the week sharing how you are celebrating American Education Week on these different days! Be sure to include the hashtag #aew2019 and tag @ChandlerEA on Twitter or Chandler Education Association on Facebook. NEA has lots of great resources that will help you promote this week, as well. CEA will also be posting to our social media accounts every day this week, so please check those accounts and share our posts! Here are the videos that we have posted so far this week:
