May 1 General Meeting Postponed

Arizona Educators UnitedDue to the continued #REDforED walkouts happening across the state, our final General Meeting of the year (which was supposed to take place on May 1) is being postponed. We will announce the new date of the meeting when we know it … please check back on our website for more details.

CEA Shirt Pickup Today at 4:00 pm

RED for ED t-shirtDespite the weather, CEA will still offer t-shirt pickup at Nando’s Mexican Cafe today from 4:00-6:00 pm. If wind and dust is still an issue, shirt pickup and happy hour will be moved inside instead of being held on the patio.

Even if you didn’t order a shirt, please come join us for happy hour at Nando’s … there will be a lot to discuss after today’s announcement at the capitol!

AEA Spring Membership Drive Begins April 1

AEA’s annual spring membership drive is now underway! If you sign up to be a member between April 1 and May 31, you will not need to begin paying dues until the fall! With all of the momentum behind the #REDforED movement, this is a perfect time to join an organization that has been fighting for Arizona educators and students at the local, state, and national levels for decades. From school board races to the Arizona Capitol to the U.S. Congress, CEA, AEA, and NEA are gearing up for the critical elections coming up in August and November. The more members we have, the better able we will be to fight for our profession!

If you would like to take advantage of this membership offer, please complete our Spring Membership form and return it to your site representative, or send it to Sara Crismon at Bologna Elementary.

Please note that specific benefits such as employment liability insurance may be limited until you begin having dues deducted from your paycheck in the fall. Contact AEA at (602) 264-1774 for more details.

CEA Organizing #REDforED T-Shirt Order

RED for ED t-shirtUPDATE – April 2, 2018: Acme Prints has put their #REDforED shirts back up on their website! Please read below for full instructions on how to place your order.

There has been so much demand for #REDforED t-shirts that CEA will be organizing another round of orders for our members. You can place the order yourself by going online to Acme Prints and selecting the shirt(s) you would like to purchase. If you would like CEA to pick up your t-shirt, you must be sure to do the following when you check out:

  • In Step 4: Shipping Method, select Pick-up @ Acme Prints

Acme Prints Checkout - Step 4

  • In Step 5: Order Confirmation, enter “Chandler EA will pick up my order” in the Order Instructions/Comments

Acme Prints Checkout - Step 5

The deadline to place your order is Friday, April 6 … no extensions will be made. CEA will distribute these shirts at Nando’s Mexican Cafe from 4:00-6:00 pm on Thursday, April 12. This will also be a great way for us to proudly wear our #REDforED in public and raise more awareness of education issues facing our state!

If you cannot attend the shirt distribution event on April 12, you can still order your own shirts and either pick them up yourself or pay for the shirt to be shipped to your home.

#REDforED Shirts Still Available!

#REDforED t-shirtThanks to everyone who wore #REDforED at our district rally. It was fantastic to see such an awesome display of unity, and we even made local news!

There is still much more to do, starting with the March 28 Day of Action at the Capitol … so if you don’t already have a #REDforED t-shirt, you should get one! You can order #REDforED shirts directly from ACME Prints (these are the same shirts that many wore to the rally, pictured to the right) or order a different Red for Ed shirt from SOS Arizona. These shirts will be delivered directly to you, so there is no need to pick them up. Order your shirts today!

#REDforED Shirt Pickup Details

Anyone who placed a #REDforED t-shirt order using the form on our website should have received an e-mail with pickup instructions. Remember, if you put down Shaun Creighton as the person who will pick up your shirt, you do NOT need to pick up your shirt. He will bring them to the Chandler Center for the Arts on Monday for you to pick up and wear over your school shirt to the rally if you like.

This was offered as a courtesy to save our members a trip, and the rally was chosen as a “distribution site” since everyone will be there. However, some members have asked about getting their shirts on Saturday or Sunday. Due to the high number of orders (almost 100 people put Shaun down as the pickup person for their order!) it is difficult to find a time that works for everyone, and we don’t want to make things too complicated for Jennifer Orlando, who is coordinating t-shirt orders across the valley. But after consulting with Jennifer, we think we have a solution for those who would like to pick up their shirts before Monday morning.

If members would like their shirts early, they should:

  • check the order confirmation e-mail they received from Jennifer Orlando
  • pick up their shirts between 5:00-6:45 pm on Saturday at the Mesa location listed in the e-mail (and be sure to mention that Shaun will no longer be picking up their order)

Shaun will pick up any shirts under his name that were not picked up during that window at 6:45 pm on Saturday, and bring them to the rally to pick up on Monday. He is planning on getting to the rally quite early that morning so people can show up early to get their shirts. Look for them at the CEA table inside the Chandler Center for the Arts.

If you missed the ordering window, you probably can’t get a shirt in time for the rally … but you can still get one to wear at other events like the March 28 rally at the Capitol! You can order #REDforED shirts directly from ACME Prints (these are the same shirts that were offered early) or order a different Red for Ed shirt from SOS Arizona.
