Happy American Education Week!

This week (November 16-20) is American Education Week, and it’s a great time to thank everyone in our education community for everything they do to help our students get the education they deserve. Parents, support staff, substitutes, classsroom educators, certified specialists, administrators … all of us are working harder than ever before to support our students in the most challenging circumstances our schools have faced in recent memory. We salute everyone for their work in making Chandler such a great place to work and learn!

We encourage our Site Representatives to check out these resources from NEA and think about how they can recognize members of their school community during American Education Week. CEA will have more to share this week, but we’d like to kick things off with a short video:

Prop 208 Phone Banking Every Monday, Wednesday, Friday Evening

Yes on 208

We have a chance to make history in Arizona by passing Proposition 208 and drastically increasing protected and permanent public education funding, but we can’t get complacent this close to the election. To make sure we are doing everything we can to secure this victory, CEA will be joining several other East Valley locals to do virtual phone banking every Monday, Wednesday and Friday night from 5:00-7:00pm. These phone banks are easy to do from your own home … you are given a virtual script, and the targeted numbers have already been identified as friendly voters. There will even be “technical support” available for those who need it. Please register for as many Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays as you can!

Prop 208 Sign Pick Up this Saturday, Phone Banking Every Wednesday

Yes on 208

CEA will be holding a Prop 208 sign pick up and car painting event this Saturday, September 19 from 10:00am – 1:00pm. This event will be held at the LD17 Democrat campaign office on the northwest corner of Alma School Rd and Frye Rd, and as usual, we’ll be following safe mask-wearing and social distancing protocols. Please register today!

If you can’t make it Saturday, don’t worry … we still have ways for you to get involved! CEA will be joining several other East Valley locals to do virtual phone banking every Wednesday night from 5:00-7:00pm. These phone banks are easy to do from your own home … you are given a virtual script, and the targeted numbers have already been identified as friendly voters. Register for as many nights as you’re able to so we can get out the vote and make history in Arizona!

This year, it’s more important than ever to not just know who and what you want to vote for, but how to correctly cast your vote during the COVID pandemic. With so much misinformation and confusion, we have relaunched our Voter Toolkit for 2020. This toolkit shares important information on recommended candidates, how to get involved in the campaign, and how to properly cast your vote, including important deadlines for voter registration and early ballot requests. Check it out, and feel free to share the link (chandlerea.org/votertoolkit) with others!

CUSD Governing Board Candidate Events on Tuesday, September 8

After our last Governing Board meeting, there can be no doubt how important it is to make sure quality candidates are elected to our Governing Board. To help inform our community about the candidates running to fill three vacancies in 2020, CEA is sponsoring two events on Tuesday, September 8.

From 6:00-7:00 pm, we will hold a Virtual Meet and Greet where the community can get to know our candidates better in an informal setting. From 7:00-8:30 pm, we will hold a Candidate Forum where all candidates will be asked the same questions about important issues facing CUSD. Both events will be held on Zoom to ensure participant safety.

For more information on these events, including how to register and attend, please visit our CUSD Governing Board Election page.
