It has been an honor and privilege to serve as your CEA president. I am humbled by the amazing work you all put in on a daily basis to support your colleagues, students and community. Every day I wake up excited to advocate on your behalf.

This past year, CEA has supported new educators, including at the district mentorship night. We have partnered with the Department of Equity and Inclusion to host 2 movie nights and to celebrate Black History Month. In Super Q, where we bargain on behalf of all CUSD staff, we made great strides in compensation and work load. We heard your concerns and read all of your comments about class size, case loads, equity, professional development, wages, health insurance, and that ever important work life balance.

In keeping the promise of quality education, we must commit ourselves to the difficult work of equity and inclusion. We must be deliberate in our words and in our practices, seeing the value in each of our students and in each other. These systemic changes don’t happen overnight.

Change starts in our classrooms, on our buses, and in our cafeterias. It starts by asking students their preferred name and pronouns, choosing diverse and inclusive texts, incorporating diverse and inclusive images, and allowing for student led and driven discussions around diverse and inclusive topics. As our students enter the workforce, empathy, compassion and the ability to collaborate are qualities 21st century employers desire.

As amazing as that all has been, we still have progress to make. We will continue to work on behalf of educators and our students, both those in our district and across the state. Together, we are stronger!

I am a sixth grade teacher at Ryan Elementary. I have been teaching for 27 years in Arizona, 23 years in CUSD. I love being a member of the CEA because I think it is important to be a part of our professional organization and support fellow teachers. I have been an Associate Representative off and on over the years and feel passionate about advocating for teachers and ensuring they feel supported. I am excited about the opportunity to become more involved in the Chandler Education Association.

I think it is important to be involved in organizations that make a difference. As our influence grows as educators, we will continue to make changes for the betterment of the profession. By serving on the Executive Board, I will continue to be part of that change. I am asking for your vote and support. Thank you.

I am honored to be nominated for Corresponding Secretary of our CEA. I have been a member for several years, and for the last 2 years I have been a Site Representative for Ryan Elementary. Additionally, I am on the Membership Committee, helping to organize and attend new member events, produce our almost-monthly newsletter “Toilet Talk”, and work with our CEA Leadership Team.

Chandler Unified School District has been my home for a total of 25 years; 7 as a classified employee, and 16 years as a teacher. My own children were brought up through the Chandler Schools. The reason I came to work for the district is because I knew if my kids thrived here, I would too.

My goal is to support our teachers – those who are members, as well as those who are not. I hope I can count on your support.

I am approaching my 14th year in teaching and my 6th year in the Chandler Unified School District. Teaching is my passion and so have my Political views in public education. Being in the know with the state has really sparked my ambition to be heard and support my fellow peers in the profession.

I am excited to learn more about CEA as I take on this new role to serve as my site representative. have been teaching since January 2015 when I received the opportunity to join Chandler Unified Schools at the newest high school, Casteel High. I taught for 1.5 years as a special education teacher before then being recommended to serve as the special education department chair. I served in that position for 2 years until my newest opportunity came about to help open the new special education program at Chandler Learning Center. This first year teaching at CLC has been an amazing experience; I hope to continue to help teachers and students grow through this advocacy opportunity in CEA as well as my desire to serve our students who are most in need of appropriate funding and services.
